Yoga therapy

“If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won’t have to hear it scream.”

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY

In this short video I explain my take on what yoga therapy is.

Yoga therapy is a holistic way of looking at the whole of you and your life situation. Together we explore your current situation, and what you need to move forward using various ‘tools’ from yoga – movement, breathing exercises, reflection, recovery, as well as techniques to regulate the nervous system and manage stress. .

The body has an internal balance, homeostasis, which it constantly strives to maintain. When one body system is out of balance, it usually affects the others as well. In yoga therapy, the focus is therefore more often on the whole, rather than a single symptom. The tools and techniques you learn during the sessions should be easy to integrate into your daily life, so you can use them again and again when you notice that the balance has been disturbed.

In short, yoga therapy can help you feel better.

“We store our issues in our tissues.”

WHAT TO EXPECT

INCREASED UNDERSTANDING: Working together you will learn, in a clear and easy way, about the ‘body systems’ and how it is all so cleverly connected, and what you can do in your everyday life to support your body & mind towards more health and wellbeing.

A COMBINTATION OF:

  • Physical movement tailored to your body
  • Breathing practices to promote optimal (functional) breathing and improve energy
  • Relaxation including restorative yoga
  • Coaching to gain more insight into yourself, your patterns, who you are, and why you do what you do. This allows you to make new conscious choices that align better with you.

PRACTICAL EXERCISES: Between sessions, you are usually given exercises to work on on your own. All tasks are tailored to your specific situation, and we will agree on them together.

MAIL CONTACT: Between sessions, you are welcome to email me both to answer questions and challenges that arise along the way.

the practical

HOW? Individual yoga therapy & coaching sessions + practical homework and exercises. Between our sessions, you can email me to ask questions and share thoughts.

WHERE? I offer yoga therapy sessions and coaching most often via Zoom. If you live in (southern) Öland/Kalmar and prefer physical meetings, this can be arranged.

WHEN? A yoga therapy & coaching session is 60-75 minutes long. Usually we work together for a period of 4-6 months, with meetings every 2-4 weeks.

PRICE? A session costs 105 € (incl. VAT) and is paid in advance.

START? We start with an initial “chemistry” call. The call lasts about 30 minutes and is free. During that conversation, we both get a chance to check that we can work well together. We talk about all the practicalities, including number of sessions/approximate time to work together.

Before our first session, you will answer questions about yourself and your current (health) situation via a questionnaire.

Contact

The first step is to get in touch via e-mail and tell briefly about your current situation and your hopes with yoga therapy & coaching. I will get back to you within 1-3 working days to book an appointment for an initial call.

FEEDBACK FROM CLIENTS

“Before we started the sessions I really didn’t have that many expectations. After reading the information on your website yoga therapy seemed like one of a few good options to try in order to heal a bit more. And luckily it was! The custom-made sessions were very helpful as I learned to work with limitations regarding my condition and worked on gradually building muscle/strength. I would say a 10!” -J.T

“Yoga therapy for me, was a very healing experience. And has given me the tools to get to know myself and my body a little bit better. As a result, I feel a lot better, and my back complaints and IBS are much more manageable.” -C.H

“Didn’t know what to expect, but I feel its a worthy addition to the purely medical treatment. This is because I felt taken seriously, and it gave me much more awareness of how systems in the body are (inter)connected and how to work on relaxing basically. Sounds simple but it’s not, also something I took away from the therapy.” -L.B

“Camilla has a lot of knowledge about the human body and always knows how to do a specific movement in a different way in case you cannot do it in one way. She makes you see assumptions or expectations you might have concerning your own body and how your could treat it differently.” -A.B

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”
