“If you listen to your body when it whispers, you won’t have to hear it scream.”

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY

Yoga therapy is a movement-based approach, where we work mainly with the physical body, using movement, breathing and relaxation techniques in order to restore the balance (homeostasis) in the ‘body systems’.

In short, it’s a way to bring more health and wellbeing into your life, regardless of your current health situation. It’s a way to take (back) ownership of your health.

In this short video I explain my take on what yoga therapy is (if you prefer Swedish click here).

“We store our issues in our tissues.”

Yoga therapy can help you with a variety of health related situations:

  • Stress management & the effects from long-term stress
  • Sleep issues including insomnia & sleep apnea
  • Women’s health including (peri)menopause
  • Digestive complaints (incl IBS)
  • Burnout recovery & prevention
  • Tension headaches & migraine
  • Constantly tired / Low energy
  • High blood pressure & other cardiovascular disease
  • Autoimmune disease such as diabetes type 1, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), multiple sclerosis (MS), Addison’s disease, Hashimoto
  • Respiratory conditions, including asthma, recovering from covid, hyperventilation & other breathing pattern related issues
  • Cancer, recovering from or ongoing treatment
  • (Chronic) pain such as back pain
  • and many more…

WHAT TO EXPECT

Working together you will learn, in a clear and easy way, about the ‘body systems’ and how it is all so cleverly connected, and what you can do in your everyday life to support your body & mind towards more health.

Within the yoga therapy program you can expect a combination of the following:

  • Physical movement tailored to your body
  • Breathing practices to promote optimal (functional) breathing and improve energy
  • Relaxation including restorative yoga
  • Coaching to gain more insight into yourself, your patterns, who you are, and why you do what you do. This allows you to make new conscious choices that align better with you.

You learn to use tools & techniques to self-regulate as needed in the ‘ups & downs’ of life. The practices done during the sessions become much more powerful and effective when they become part of your daily life.

My intention is that you gain knowledge from me to feel confident & skilled enough to continue to practice on your own, using the tools you’ve learnt.

the yoga therapy process

Free Online consultation

In our first meeting you can share what is going on in your body, and what you hope to gain from yoga therapy.

If we decide to work together we’ll book our first session, and make a plan how to put you (back) in control of your health & wellbeing.

intake & assessment

Prior to your first session (the intake), you receive an email with a questionnaire about your health and medical background.

We take time to go through your answers and current health situation, and focus on your needs and discuss how I can support you in this process.

We also discuss how you envision the sessions and how often you would like to meet.

This first session takes about 90-minutes.

yoga therapy sessions

The yoga therapy sessions last from 75-90 minutes, depending on what is needed and feels right for you.

Each session is different and we tune in to where you are in your process at that time and what you need on that day, and to move forward.

Between the sessions you will often have ‘homework’, to support your progress.

Each session combines movement, breathing practices and relaxation techniques to support your body towards better health.

TAILORED TO YOU

No two individuals are the same, which is why each session is tailored to suit your needs. Also, each session will differ depending on your current situation on the day of our session.

We work online through Zoom and/or in-person in my home-based studio on Pannekoekstraat, city centre of Rotterdam.

FEEDBACK FROM CLIENTS

“Before we started the sessions I really didn’t have that many expectations. After reading the information on your website yoga therapy seemed like one of a few good options to try in order to heal a bit more. And luckily it was! The custom-made sessions were very helpful as I learned to work with limitations regarding my condition and worked on gradually building muscle/strength. I would say a 10!” -J.T

“Yoga therapy for me, was a very healing experience. And has given me the tools to get to know myself and my body a little bit better. As a result, I feel a lot better, and my back complaints and IBS are much more manageable.” -C.H

“Didn’t know what to expect, but I feel its a worthy addition to the purely medical treatment. This is because I felt taken seriously, and it gave me much more awareness of how systems in the body are (inter)connected and how to work on relaxing basically. Sounds simple but it’s not, also something I took away from the therapy. To add, thank you for going ‘the extra mile’ when sending over recommendations or podcasts that you thought relevant, much appreciated.” -L.B

“Camilla has a lot of knowledge about the human body and always knows how to do a specific movement in a different way in case you cannot do it in one way. She makes you see assumptions or expectations you might have concerning your own body and how your could treat it differently.” -A.B

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live in.”
